Code Pink…

The loonies from Code Pink just can’t seem to stay out of trouble, as one of the women who was recently deported from Pakistan for protesting has now been arrested in DC for protesting. Shrewd. Didn’t the 1960’s end 40 years ago?

As if that wasn’t enough, Code Pink protestors were also busted yesterday for trying to get false media credentials to gain access to the Capital. Maybe the pink shirts and wild eyes gave them away?

And apparently the Dems in congress aren’t extreme enough for Code Pink as they are now mobilizing a campaign calling for a “regime change” within the Democratic party. Is it me, or is pink too subtle a color for these crazies?

Taking a Stand Against Political Correctness…

Religious leaders from various religious groups are urging Britons to enjoy Christmas and stop worrying about offending non-Christians. Now if we can only get this sort of thing in our country, but I won’t hold my breath.

Congress and Intelligence Don’t Mix…

Congress continues to demand answers regarding the destruction of the CIA tapes despite the fact that we all know they would have just leaked them to the press for political gain if they weren’t destroyed. Maybe that’s why they’re so pissed off. It’s a political tool that they lost.

To further prove that the dems are only interested in political gain, it would seem that they knew about the CIA’s activities and approved of them; only now changing their mind when it is politically advantageous to do so. Add to that the fact that an ex-CIA interrogator has said that waterboarding is useful and has saved lives, and the dems should be blushing for their mock outrage.

The Rev. Al Sharpton…

The good Rev. is considering a worldwide campaign to sink Chicago’s bid for the 2016 Olympic games because he feels that the city isn’t doing enough to stop “unchecked police misconduct.” Maybe Mr. Sharpton should check his own misconduct and shut the hell up for a change and let the police do their job.

New Jersey Says “Yes” to Crime…

Well, indirectly anyway, as they take steps towards abolishing the death penalty in the state which looks to become law within a month.

Where’s Tony Blair When You Need Him?

British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, has gone off the deep end and is now pushing for talks and negotiations with the Taliban, claiming that it could end the war. Is this due to growing pressure from the Muslim buildup in his own country, or is he really that delusional?

This after the Afghan flag is now flying over a captured Taliban stronghold as NATO and Afghan forces just laid waste to them and sent them running to the hills.

Nanny State Update…

Parents are trying to block a New Jersey mandate that would require flu shots for preschoolers. Flu shots? Not acceptable.

The American Legacy Foundation is complaining that smoking costs Medicaid billions and people should stop smoking to save the taxpayers money. Here’s a novel idea. Don’t allow smokers to use Medicaid. Is it so hard to make and enforce rules?

Ontario continues to spin out of control at the hands of liberals as their Premier says that smoking around kids in a car is “reprehensible” and is open to a ban on smoking in your car when kids are present. Maybe they can get together with Monroe County, Indiana and compare notes.

In the “you just can’t win” category, environmentalists in England are now claiming that the smoking ban, which forces smokers outdoors, is adding to the global warming “crisis.”

And if you plan on lighting up a smoke with your beer at this year’s Octoberfest in Bavaria, forget about it. They are enacting Germany’s most restrictive smoking ban yet

The top US Doctor continues to claim that Santa Claus is setting a bad example to children because he’s too fat. As if! These people need to get a life, and fast, because this insanity is spreading and infecting people at an alarming pace.

LA is considering a plan that will ban new fast-food restaurants from opening in parts of Southern LA because they are bad for the community. So really they want to take the responsibility and accountability out of the hands of the people.

To avoid an all out ban, major global food companies have been forced into signing a “pledge” that they will stop advertising junk food to children under 12. At the same time, the UK is looking into a ban on trans fats in foods. This is getting sick. Is it government or surrogate parents?

Green Dems…

Is it environmentalism or politics? When it comes to the Dems, there is no distinction as John Kerry told the Bali conference that “an administration run by the Democrats would mean the difference between night and day on policies to fight global warming,” and that “Democrats want to do everything President George W. Bush doesn’t to fight climate change.” We want to pander to the greenies but the evil administration is standing in our way. Boo frickity hoo.

But a congressional investigation is now claiming that the evil administration is manipulating climate reports to downplay the dangers of global warming. Are these morons serious? They can’t pass a budget but they can investigate this?

And as always, the Dems prove that political gain and pop-culture popularity trumps all by turning back all efforts by Senate Republicans to soften the economic impact of their global warming bill.

Green Bay Prepares For Showdown…

In defiance of political correctness and cranky atheists, the President of the Green Bay City Council has put up a Nativity scene on public property. The catch? He used his own money, which he believes is fully within the rights of the Constitution.

National and World News

China…

Taiwan’s president won’t declare independence from China, which China claims would spark a war. Probably a smart move, but should China continue to lay claim to Taiwan?

In another concerning move, China is partnering with Costa Rica to explore for oil in the region. Of course, we are still barred from exploring for oil in our own region by the whacko environmental left, so maybe in the future we’ll be buying China state oil from our own region.

Oil aside, should we be watching China with more zeal? It would seem that a cyberattack on the US government’s nuclear weapon’s lab originated from China. Of course, this isn’t the first time that China has has ties to espionage regarding our nuclear weapons.

Russia…

Technocrat ally, Dmitry Medvedev, has been tagged to be Russia’s new president and has tagged Putin to step down and into the Prime Minister’s position, essentially keeping Russia on the same course.

Putin is also working to return Russia to it’s former nuclear glory and has been building a state behemoth to consolidate their nuclear assets. An interesting move considering Putin’s recent withdrawal from the cold war-era CFE treaty, which also means Russia can move forces around without notifying NATO.
From the blogs: Russian Election 2008, Rhymes With Right

Kosovo…

Talks have ended and Kosovo now wants independence from Serbia, which stands to spark another conflict as NATO and Russia square off over the deal. Either way, Kosovo is vowing independence before May. Where’s Bill Clinton in all of this? Isn’t he their national hero? Maybe he should stop trying to carry his wife’s campaign for a bit and do something useful for a change.

Nationally…

Four dead in Colorado after a disgruntled punk opened fire in two separate church incidents. He was put down by a volunteer security guard who was trained and armed with a pistol. While she is a hero, the mainstream media is spinning the story to fit their own agenda and the local media is working to make her look as bad as they can. It would be nice if the media had some shame once in a while.
From the blogs: Gina Cobb and here, D=S, Say Anything, Pro Patria, No Compromises

From the “news that doesn’t belong in the 21st century” list, Presidential candidate, Mitt Romney, retorted against Mike Huckabee by saying “attacking someone’s religion is really going too far.” Agreed. Using religious bigotry in a 2008 presidential election is 100% unacceptable.

Good News!

Mass. Comes to it’s Senses…

In a rare victory for patriotic Americans going up against the liberal machine, Jim Sereigo-Wareing is allowed to hang his flags honoring local soldiers on a highway overpass after being initially told to remove them for “safety reasons.”
From the blogs: Wake Up America

On the Abortion Front…

In an attempt to neutralize Roe v. Wade, a Colorado law student is working to have get the state constitution to define fertilized eggs as people. If successful, this would be a devastating blow for Roe v. Wade.

Wisconsin Residents Aren’t as Dumb as Their Governor…

A recent poll showed Wisconsin residents oppose benefits for illegal immigrants. Now if only the State Democrats would listen to it’s people for a change…

Iraq…

Despite all the stories we are force-fed regarding the Iraqi’s not wanting us there, Iraq has asked the UN to renew a mandate for US-led forces for another year. They have also said that it will be the last extension and they may ask for it to end earlier. But there’s still no success in Iraq?

And while Harry Reid continues to pump his fist and tell us the war in Iraq is lost and demands we admit defeat, the US polls are showing that the American people are seeing progress in Iraq. This is bad news for the party of failure, but good news for the rest of the country.

Michigan Halts Smoking Ban…

For now anyway. Michigan’s house passed a statewide smoking ban, but it was stopped cold in the Senate.

There be Pirates, Matey…

Somali pirates finally free the 22 members of a Japanese tanker. While eye patches and puffy shirts may be cool, Somalis with RPGs suck.

Interesting News, Odd News, and Tidbits

Man in Guinness for Getting Hit by Car…

I’m not sure that this is a record that I would like to hold, but I guess if you’re going to get hit by a car and thrown, it might as well be a record-setting distance.

Fan Dies At 49ers Game…

Too much beer and excitement? A man plunged over 20 feet and died at the 49ers/Vikings game. Ouch!

If I Were Uber Rich…

How enjoyable would it be to sit down with your $54,000 bottle of 81-year old scotch and enjoy an evening?

And You Thought You Were Smart?

The world’s fastest human calculator on Tuesday broke his own record for working out a 200-digit number using nothing but brain power to produce the answer in just over 70 seconds. Yeah, I still count on my fingers.

Excessive paranoia?

Is excessive paranoia getting in the way of good will? Due to fears that somebody will try sending toxic substances or worse through the mail, the military has been refusing to deliver letters marked “any wounded soldier.” Is this a good idea? I can tell you that some of the best feelings I had while in the Navy came from responding to the “Any Deployed Sailor” letters. It was very encouraging and made us remember what our mission was for. I think we’re letting fear run our lives with this one.
From the blogs: Say Anything

Air Force Going Solar?

Apparently. Nellis AFB has got their solar farm online which will provide 30% of the base’s power and save $1 million a year in energy costs. This is good green. I support this because it’s a money thing, not a global warming thing.

Health News

What Takes Precedence, Personal Freedom or Community Welfare?

A man tagged as a “serious health risk” by health officials was jailed for not taking his tuberculosis medication. While ordinarily I err on the side of personal freedom, the health and safety of the community must come first.

Vaccination Requirements?

In Maine, 400 students were banned from the campus of the University of Southern Maine for not meeting their vaccination requirements for mumps. Should public schools enforce requirements for major vaccinations? You bet!

Bird Flu Update…

Bird flu has hit Poland and Russia as China hunts for the link between a boy who died of H5N1 and his father who also contracted the flu. An Indonesian woman also died, bringing this years bird flu deaths in Indonesia to 92. Should we hit the panic button? Nope.

News of the Green

Global Warming Causes…

Green Money, Taxes and Business…

Norway is looking at a “carbon auction” to fight global warming, which would auction off “carbon permits” to emit CO2 and give the money to poor nations. Global socialism anybody?

The California Air Resource Board adopted a new rule that requires industries to report the carbon emissions every year. It’s only a matter of time before it becomes a money issue.

An “expert” in Australia is making claims that parents who have more than two children should have to pay a lifelong “climate change tax” to offset their greenhouse gas emissions. Get real! Are we modeling our social policy from China now? The Brits also have a way-out tax scheme to cut global warming. Maybe their tea is under threat?
From the blogs: Wake Up America, OpenMarket

Meanwhile, Google is looking to invest hundreds of millions into the green energy industry. I guess it helps to have Al Gore on your board and making profits from green energy investments.

In case you felt guilty about shipping things, you can now go to ShipGreen and use their calculations to figure out the carbon impact of your box and buy their offsets so you can feel good about yourself again.

And if that doesn’t ease your guilt, you can now research your paper goods and make better choices about what paper to use to lower greenhouse emissions. Does it get any better than that?

It does! As global warming hysteria hits Christmas and people are erring on the side of “green” gifts and not using wrapping paper. I wonder what the carbon footprint of 8 tiny reindeer is?

But wait, it gets better. California is poised to spend $600 million to build a “hub” to coordinate global warming and climate change research at schools and labs around the state. Where will the funding come from? Resident’s electric bills, of course.

Bali and the UN…

The big headache in Bali is the emission cuts mandate, which the US and others refuse to sign on to. Of course the UN thinks it can demand such things in the name of saving the planet, which is awfully big of them if you ask me. All the while, Ban Kai Moon is competing with Al Gore in the “global warming alarmism” department, making claims that “the human race faces oblivion if it fails to confront global warming,” and “Climate change is getting worse, and it is the defining challenge of our age.”

Al Gore…

Mr. Gore got his Nobel prize and used the opportunity to slam the rest of the world (especially the US) on global warming. He claims that the next US President will shift the course on climate change (don’t bet on it, Al), told the US and China to make bold moves on climate change or “stand accountable before history for their failure to act,” praised the new Aussie liberal for caving in to Kyoto, likened global warming to war and told us that “we are what is wrong.” And what did Alec Baldwin have to say about this? “Al Gore today takes his place as a true global leader.” Gag me. But the weirdness doesn’t stop there, because Gore also donated casts of his feet to decorate the “peace pathway” in Norway. I would have recommended a cast of his ego instead.

But There is Some Good News…

The Pope launched an attack on the global warming prophets of doom and warned then that any solution must be based on firm evidence and not dubious ideology. But who carries more power? The pope or the prophet, Al Gore?

Add to that yet another scientist calling global warming a hoax, one of the IPCC scientists who won the nobel prize claiming that he and many of his peers disagree with AL Gore and the IPCC, the question as to whether or not we should really be worried about global warming and now Christian groups standing against the global warming deception… It sure is nice to see that there is some dissent out there. Of course it never reaches the front page, but then again it doesn’t make for good “doom and gloom” headlines, does it?

Oh, and did not know about it. Thanks for the information …

Buddy, I don’t know why you’ve turned global warming into a political issue. I’m not a democrat or republican, because they’re all a bunch of crooks and liars, but climate change is real, it’s happening. I don’t like Bush, but his No Child Left Behind Act (whether it’s working or not) is a great idea: we need to focus a lot of energy on teaching our children. It got people moving to make sure the future of our country is educated and can compete in a global market. So, while I don’t like Bush, his idea is a good one and I can recognize that.

Before you categorize me as some kind of Bush-hater, I hate Al Gore too. I think he’s a weenie with no backbone who doesn’t have anything to stand on except his environmental views.

With that said, I listen to both of them when what they say makes sense. It’s not the men, it’s their arguments. You have to listen to each argument separately and judge them each on their merits, not looking at the men who came up with them. The facts are that there is enormous scientific consensus on what’s going on in the environment and that it’s mostly being caused by human burning of fossil fuels.

    That’s not politics, that’s science.
